The co-operation between Dutch urban planner Roos Limburg and local development association www.Dakarkids.info will be a important 'development tool' for the Yoff community. It is not very common that the local community is involved in urban planning from start tot end. This time everybody can come up with ideas, also about the financing of the project(s). The people who are 'sitting' on the available budgets have to make clear how much money is available. It's also nice to find out why it has not been spend so far. Roos Limburg will live with us in Dakarkids and in the middle of the community. She will face the poverty and the local 'big shots' or better to say 'decision makers'. In Senegal and also in Yoff decision making is completly different then in Europe or Holland. In Europe we have rules and regulations. In Yoff they don't. If you want to build a house or stadium. Just go ahead. In Yoff public spaces are getting rare. Almost 90% is 'eaten' by private buildings. So Roos is just coming in time.
